Hotel Compete has spent almost a decade collecting, cleansing and analyzing all the elements consumers consider when they begin the booking process. Our data models and algorithms take the guesswork out of competitive analysis and provide insights, not often considered by hotels as they view their competitive landscape.
Founded in 2009, Hotel Compete has grown rapidly into a company that clients can count on for timely, accurate and insightful information that helps shift and maintain market share. No insight is too small and no data element is insignificant. With data from more than 500 sources covering hundreds of thousands of hotels, restaurants, landmarks, and points of interest, Hotel Compete creates a picture of the market place unlike any other company. Simply, if a booking client referenced a website, search or data point during their booking process, Hotel Compete considers this data. This data provides keen insight into why a customer did or did not book your property.
Our motto started out as “Your competition is YOUR business,” and it remains a true statement today.
Jim Rozell | Founder and CEO
Jim Rozell serves as Hotel Compete’s Founder and CEO. Jim’s background in data mining, modeling and manipulation started before there were fancy words for such activities. He has experience at virtually every level of the travel and hospitality spectrum having worked for American Airlines, Carlson Hotels, Travelweb, Mark Travel and several of his own endeavors. Jim has developed models that predict revenues, determine aircraft allocations, optimize room inventory, manage rates and assess competitors. He has been the architect of some of the largest travel data structures in the industry and many of the projects he left behind are still actively used to this day. To say Jim is “inquisitive” is an understatement. There is no level of data that doesn’t interest pique his interest in some way.
Tracy Rozell | President
Tracy Rozell brings experience in multiple fields that benefit Hotel Compete. Her multi-faceted background in retail management, merchandising, real estate and corporate hotel sales provide Hotel Compete’s team a view from some very different perspectives. Tracy’s organizational skills and aptitude for effective planning have served Hotel Compete well in its growth over the past eight years. Tracy has managed operations, human resources and planning for both small and large companies. She brings experience with multiple start-up companies, and has been a critical piece in the development of Hotel Compete’s staff and operations platform. At Hotel Compete when things must get done, Tracy ensures that they are completed.
Brad Kohlheyer | Advisory Board Member
Brad Kohlheyer founded Hotel Revenue Solutions, LLC in 2015, a company now servicing over 40 hotels with Revenue Management services and reporting. He formed the company following a 17-year career as IHG’s Vice President of Americas Revenue Management and 37 years in the hotel industry. Prior to IHG, Brad worked with Hyatt, Sheraton and Hilton in various capacities throughout Hotel Operations, Sales, and Revenue Management. Brad has worked in above property roles both internationally and domestically with responsibilities for Operations and Revenue Management.
Tom Marson | Advisory Board Member
Tom Marsan is a Leader for streamlining and optimizing complex business processes, leveraging holistic thinking, team collaboration, technology and analytical rigor. Project Management Professional (PMP) and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certifications provide the framework for a disciplined approach to problem solving while delivering solutions on-time and within budget. Diverse experiences in credit cards, healthcare, consulting, Internet travel, and airlines in large and small companies, including Jetpay (present), SignaPay, Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Travelweb, priceline.com, First USA Bank, American Airlines and Ernst & Young.
Christopher Smith | Advisory Board Member
An early contributor to Hotel Compete’s success, Christopher Smith has moved forward to forge a career in managing client requirements, expectations and relationships. His successes with projects, large and small, utilize a technical client-focused view to ensure that end-user products are understandable, reliable, and most importantly, beneficial. Christopher always ensures that the client’s voice is brought to the table and that completed products meet their every requirement. His insight is what lead to Hotel Competes moto of “world class customer service.” Christopher is THE master of customer advocacy.
Kendall Lane | Advisory Board Member
Kendall Lane is a marketing professional at Hotel Compete. With Kendall’s vast background in online advertising, PR, social media and marketing, she has helped Hotel Compete’s presence in the community grow. Kendall has managed the marketing and social media for both large and small corporations in her various years as a professional, post-graduate. She brings a fresh sense of social media marketing to help keep Hotel Compete a relevant company in today’s technological world. The world of social media may move fast, but not as fast as Kendall.
